Capacity Building Programme- Using AI in Classrooms.
On July 5th, 2025, a Capacity Building Programme was held at St. Chavara Auditorium, Christ School CBSE, on the theme “Use of Artificial Intelligence in Classrooms.” The event began with a warm welcome extended to all dignitaries and participants by Ms. Jayapriya Govind, setting an enthusiastic tone for the day. The Master of Ceremony for the event was Ms. Seema, who guided the flow of the programme with grace and clarity.
The occasion was graced by two eminent speakers from Delhi Public School, Bangalore East—Ms. Sayeesubhulakshmi, a certified AI coach with expertise in Mathematics and Artificial Intelligence and a recipient of the Reliance Foundation Teacher Award; and Ms. Srinidhi, Grade 11 Coordinator, with a strong background in Computer Science, Geospatial Technology, and AI. As a symbol of growth and sustainability, the guests were presented with saplings by Rev. Fr. Johnson Kadaparambil CMI, following which the ceremonial lighting of the lamp took place with the dignitaries joined by Staff Secretary Mr. Vinoth and Senior Teacher Ms. Lincy.
The sessions were rich with insights into the world of AI and its implications in the field of education. Ms. Sayeesubhulakshmi began the day with a comprehensive introduction to Artificial Intelligence—its concept, necessity, and its expanding scope within education. She familiarized participants with essential CBSE initiatives like the Prashasth App by CBSE-NCERT and Tele-MANAS by NIMHANS. Teachers were introduced to the three domains and types of AI, the goals and potential capabilities of AI in classrooms, and the practical ways it can enhance the teaching-learning experience. Participants also explored the official CBSE document on AI integration and engaged in reflective assessments through handouts distributed during the session.
This was followed by an insightful session by Ms. Srinidhi, who explained the significance of AI in today’s educational context, elaborating on its alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) and National Curriculum Framework (NCF). She traced the evolution of classroom technology, emphasizing the use of AI in data analytics and showcasing several popular AI tools that can help in educational analysis and evaluation. These sessions helped educators not only to understand AI theoretically but also to imagine it practically embedded in their classroom practices.
In the afternoon, teachers regrouped according to their respective departments to identify and present subject-specific AI tools that could be used in their teaching practices. This collaborative activity allowed for a rich exchange of ideas, enabling faculty to explore AI’s interdisciplinary possibilities. Following this, Ms. Sayeesubhulakshmi introduced the audience to a range of practical, user-friendly AI tools such as Gamma App for presentation creation, Magic School AI for lesson planning and differentiated instruction, and AutoDraw, a visual aid tool ideal for enhancing student creativity.
The final session focused on the role of AI in educational management and administration. Ms. Srinidhi provided an informative overview of tools that can assist in creating timetables and managing academic schedules, tracking student assignment submissions, editing photos and videos for school use, supporting creative writing, and checking plagiarism. This segment broadened the perspective of participants, helping them see AI not just as a classroom aid but also as a resource for efficient school operations.
To conclude the event, a token of gratitude was presented to each guest. Our principal, Rev. Fr. Johnson Kadaparambil CMI handed over elegant mementos to the speakers, while Ms. Stella offered shawls as a mark of honour and respect. Ms. Akhila presented fruit baskets to the guests, and Mr. Vinoth gifted individual packages to each resource person as a gesture of appreciation. The programme came to an end with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Teema, acknowledging the efforts of all contributors, participants, and guests who made the event a resounding success.
