Christ School CBSE organized the CBSE Capacity Building Programme on “Promoting Mental Health and Wellness Among Students” on 14 February 2026 at the St. Chavara Auditorium from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The session was conducted by Ms. Akshatha V M, CBSE Resource Person and POCSO Awareness Trainer, and Ms. Pavithra Avinash, CBSE Resource Person and Vice Principal, Poorna Vikasa Vidyalaya, Bengaluru.
The programme primarily focused on understanding various mental disorders among children and adolescents, their symptoms, early identification, and effective classroom management strategies. The resource persons emphasized that not all behavioural changes are merely disciplinary issues; some may indicate deeper emotional or psychological concerns. Teachers were guided on distinguishing between normal developmental behaviour and warning signs that require timely attention.
Through case studies, group discussions, and scenario-based activities, participants explored topics such as anxiety disorders, depression, attention-related concerns, emotional imbalance, and stress-related challenges. Special emphasis was laid on early recognition, empathetic listening, appropriate referral systems, and collaboration with parents and counsellors.
The session also introduced teachers to supportive resources and platforms available for students, including mental health support applications such as the “PRASHAST app and awareness about Child Helpline services (1098) for children in need of immediate assistance.
The interactive nature of the training encouraged open dialogue, reflection, and sharing of real-life classroom experiences. The programme concluded with a strong message that teachers play a crucial role in early identification and timely intervention, thereby safeguarding the emotional well-being of every child.
